Saint Elias

Municipality of Lefkada - Agios Ilias

At the roots of the rocks and under the beautiful and unique for its panoramic view plateau of Elati is nestled the most mountainous village of Lefkada, the Saint Elias.

A serpentine asphalt road leads you there, 5 km above Syvros, amidst lush vegetation.

The highest mountain of Lefkada, Stavrota, rises to the northwest. In one of its gorges is the old picturesque church of Agia Paraskevi. It is the patron saint and the hope of the simple inhabitants of the village.

In her memory, on July 26, the village continues the old tradition and celebrates with a genuine traditional three-day festival, known as the best in the region.

In the old days the round hillsides used to hold thousands of sheep and goats in the summer. Today they graze what is left and offer with their bells and some flute sounds a taste of the old spring and summer enchanting nights.

In the village there are three centers that offer to the visitor the pure and unique products of the village wine, cheese and meat at low prices and with a hospitable mood.

It is an excellent place for a summer stay.
