
Island in the Ionian Sea, SE of Lefkada, between the islands of Meganissi NWW, Kastos SE and the coast of Akarnania NE.
It has an elongated shape, epiph. 25 sq.km., 7th of the Ionian Sea, 59th of Chora. Extreme points are the capes of Kefali SW, Asprogiali NE and Trachilas NW. Length SW - NE 12 km. Maximum height 745 m. (peak Vouni), almost in the centre.
Administratively it belongs to the province of Lefkados, has one community and 2 settlements, Kalamos on the southwest and Episkopi on the north coast, and a population (2001 census) of 465 people.
The terrain is mountainous, with a mountain peak running its entire length. The coastline is rocky and salted for the most part,
They form two relatively large bays:
A. in their SW part, Gerolimiona
B. in their south-eastern part, the port of Porto Leone. Near the southwestern part of the island is the islet of Formicula.
