It took the union of the Ionian Islands with Greece for the outcasts of the conquerors to slowly begin to leave the mountainous areas where their arbitrariness and fear of pirate plunder had condemned them to descend to the lower plains where they found more fertile ground to develop economically and support families.
So it was with the Features. A relatively new village, with a history of 2 -3 centuries, but with some remarkable stone houses, churches, cobbled streets, quite beautiful.
The running waters that come from the Alatro have made the soil of the village very fertile and as one proceeds through the gorge one can still find the old watermills and the natural splendour that combines the triptych of tree, stone and water.
