Resource

Municipality of Lefkada - Poros

It comes from the word Resource = hole = hole. The mountain in particular «KAMPI» on which the village is built has holes where running water flows. The upper part of the village has retreated from the underground water and has sunk into the earth, dragging the houses along with it.

HISTORICAL DATA

A trademark of the village is the tower of 6th century BC, the ruins of which are still preserved at Pyrgi. The tower was built by the Corinthians when they conquered the island. It was 12 m high and according to the latest versions it was a kind of «fryktoria». That is to say, the transmission of visual messages in order to inform one end of the island with the other in case of - mainly - invaders.
